Star of The Order of The Bath "Civil Division" 1846
The "most honourable" order of the Bath was established be George I in 1725 to consist of the sovereign a grandmaster and 36 knights companions. Civil knights and commanders were added in 1846, the date of this award. The piece is for wear on an official cape during public ceremonies. the silver bullion star measures 24cms end to end and has an inscription on the reverse, the recipients name, which has been erased and the date March 1847. Condition is excellent.
