1922 Dated Irish Free State Supporters Silver & Enamel Tara Brooch.
Important period artefact commemorating to establishment of the New Irish Free State. The brooch was produced by William Clark & sons of Birmingham, but assay stamped in Chester. The brooch type is a Irish revival pattern popular during the early part of the 20th century. The brooch has been produced to a very high standard of workmanship incorporating a gold coloured harp, inlaid with connemara marble. The central banner is done in yellow, white and green enamel with the words "Irish Free State" in silver. The coloured banner was the original pattern for the Tricolor, but quickly changed after the state was formed.
