WWI 36th Ulster Division Headquarters High Command Armlet.

One of the rarest artefacts relating to the 36th Ulster Division high command. One of just a handful of armlets produced, only for the top ranking officers of the division.  The armband was produced using multiple parts. The outer cover has been dyed red with a gilt bullion shield highlighted with a separately applied cotton Red hand.of Ulster. The backing cloth is a hardwearing khaki military type cloth. The brass buckle is not unlike the buckles used by the Ulster Volunter Force on their divisional armlets. This buckle is stamped Paris.

NB; Photos of  Brigadier General W M Withycombe CMG DSO are available online wearing the same style of armlet as well as other senior officers.
