Large WWI Prisoner Of War Carved Ox Bone On Plinth.
Impressive example executed by a POW during 1914-15. The piece has been dedicated to his loved one Ethel. Produced using a ox bones left after feeding the prisoners it became a popular past time for the detained combantants. Highly decorated piece with roses and various flowers etc. The bone does have a period crack to the cut edge, which was common. Excellent large example.
