Gilt Royal Downshire Regiment of Militia Shoulder Cross Belt Plate c1816-28
Exceptionally rare cross belt plate that became the Royal South Down Militia. The plate was produced in fine stamped copper with a fire gilt finish, which is 99% intact. The furniture from the back has been removed sometime in its history for mounting. This actual plate was featured in the revised book by R.G. Harris "The Irish Regiments 1683-1999".
