Grouping to a Famous Canadian Military Family.
The four sons of Clarence Wallace a WW1 veteran who was appointed Lt Governor of British Columbia in 1950. All his four sons enlisted and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW2. The eldest son Blake enlisted in 1939 and flew Hurricanes during The Battle of Britain before he was killed in action in 1941. Twin sons and Flying Officers Philip and Richard Wallace enlisted together in 1940 and flew spitfires.
Richard was shot down in 1943 and was held as a POW until 1945. Philip's spitfire was hit during the Normandy landings and he bailed out, he was held as a POW before liberation by advancing forces. The youngest son Pilot Officer David Wallace enlisted in 1942 and served as a bomber instructor until the end of the war.
The group consists of Flying Officer Phillip Wallace's Pilots watch made by the company of Movado and is inscribed from his mother

The silver cigarette case was presented to David Wallace and inscribed
"David Wallace June 12th 1942 signed by Chunky and Baron.
The photo"copy" is of David as far as we know. we acquired this after some correspondence with a Canadian History society..
So great was this Families sacrifice in WW2 that after the war they renamed a sports field in Vancouver after the family. "THE WALLACE FIELD"
