Rare Irish Medal Set WWI Mercantile Marine Medal and WW2 Irish Emergency Medal ( Au Slua Muiri ). The Mercantile medal is named to a Patrick Caffrey who served under the British Forces 1914-18 and after partition of Ireland in 1922 served within the Irish Free State.
The Emergency medal is for service of the state 1939 - 46 in the protection of the Free states borders and ports. The bar located on the ribbon is for two additional years service to the country. The WWI medal is correctly named to Patrick with the Irish maritime medal unnamed as issued. Both medals are in good condition with only slight wear to surface. The set is completed with the envelope of issue of the Mercantile medal, compliment card from the Irish Minister of Defence and the Free State medal ribbon bar. Very rare set to come across.
