Exceptionally rare set dated 1922, including membership card and blank application card. The organisation was formed after the partition in Ireland and the instability of the new six county border of Ulster. We have been informed that the membership was of mainly of old UVF members under a different name. Their main purpose was to defend Loyalists from border attacks and if civil war did occur, to take up arms. The membership card is named to a Mervyn McKee of the Downpatrick branch and measures 11cms x 8cms opened. Card measures 15cms x 10cms.
