Rare WWI Royal Irish Rifles Memorial Brooch.
The brooch was possibly commissioned after the loss of two members of the same family. The piece incorporates a rose gold setting, which is unmarked with two R.I.R. Insignia blanks representing the two members of the same regiment. We have not come across a piece like this before using this sombre look. We have checked the insets and can confirm that they are not buttons. Very interesting piece worth additional research.
